The best beaches near Dubrovnik
Except inside a city, you can also find beautiful beaches near Dubrovnik. One of the most beautiful is sandy beach Pasjača, located in Konavle. It will leave you breathless, because it is underneath a large rocky cliff.
On the west side of Dubrovnik there are the beautiful beaches of Sikirica and Veliki žali (Big Pebbles). They can be reached by the Adriatic road, and the car can be left to expand above the beaches. There is a caffe bar in the Veliki Žali, and also you can rent a jet ski, while the Sikirica beach is more for adventurers. Sikirica is sometimes island and sometimes peninsula, depending of hide and low tide.
Beaches on Peljesac are also great. The sandy beach of Divna Bay will remind you on the tropical paradise. It rarely has waves on it, because it is sheltered, so it is suitable for families with small children.
Between the places Žuljana and Trstenik on Peljesac there are several beaches worth visiting. Unlike from the Divna Bay, these here are for adventurers as well as couples looking for privacy. The nudist beach of Grdni Do, until which leads a narrow little road, is a breathtaking. Not far from it are three beautiful beaches of Zaglavak, Dranče and Vodice. All these beaches are pebble-sandy, with turquoise waters.
Zaglavak is the largest and most accessible, while Dranče and Vodice are also beautiful, but are slightly smaller. From Trstenik to Žuljana you have a narrow road that has extensions where you can leave your car.
As far as the Dubrovnik islands are concerned, the most beautiful beach is located on the island of Lopud, and it is called Šunj. It is a sandy beach in a beautiful bay with catering facilities. It is very shallow, so it is suitable for small children. Unlike these in Peljesac, on Šunj will be more people, and in the high season (July and August) can be crowded.
Šunj beach Lopud
All these beaches can be reached by car, except, off course beach Šunj. You may not find them immediately, but ask someone else to show you the way and there will be no problem.
